Music Stand
A music stand has a simple construction, but its purpose
is invaluable to a practicing musician. The basic design consists of
a platform (where the music rests) which is elevated, similar to a tripod,
to meet the player’s eye-level.
There are many different kinds of stands; the most preferred being
a standard metal one that can be folded up for easy transport. However,
a high tech digital music stand exists that allow players to electronically
fold pages with the help of a foot pedal.
The music stand has evolved greatly since it was first invented. At
the height of Classical culture, stands were often extravagant and ornate.
These days, however, most musicians prefer not to have attention taken
away from the music by what’s holding their pages.
